Coda Music Centre transforms its home thanks to support from local businesses
When two old portacabins started to leak and
fall apart last year the local music charity, Coda Music Trust won
an award of £49,000 from the Big Lottery to replace them.
They then refurbished
former stables at their home in Christchurch and created the regions
only dedicated Music Therapy Centre.
However, Coda then found themselves stuck
with the old dilapidated cabins and facing a cost of thousands of
pounds to remove them. Now two local businesses have stepped in with
their expertise, staff and resources and demolished and removed the
cabins in a single day.
Staff from Hoburne Bashley and skips from New
Milton Sand and Ballast were donated to the charity last Wednesday
and the transformation to Coda¹s home, a former dairy farm on
Chewton Farm Road, has been immediate with new areas for children to
play and parents to wait.
Coda CEO, Phil Hallett said, ³The old cabins
were an eye-sore and and clearing them away has transformed our
environment for everyone who comes to Coda. It¹s truly heartwarming
that these local businesses have helped us.²
Coda plans to develop the Music Centre
further in the coming months and years, with a new recording studio
to open in the spring and more music facilities planned for local
people.
The charity runs a range of music projects
throughout Bournemouth, Dorset, the New Forest, and Hampshire as
well as providing music services in local schools and at its home.
